Ecuador

    Ecuador

The economy of Ecuador is based mostly on exports of bananas, oil, shrimp, gold, other primary agricultural products and money transfers from nearly a million Ecuadorian immigrants employed abroad. Fluctuations in world market prices can have a substantial domestic impact. Industry is largely oriented to servicing the domestic market, with some exports to the Andean Common market. Though foreign-driven economic approaches have mostly focused on exports and on resource exploitation and development rather than on sustainable economic development and stability within the regions and the micro-environments, some economic teams have sought to focus on sustainability

The demand for office space has not been homogeneous across Quito with vacancy rates varying between seven and twenty percent. Class A office space is concentrated in the areas known as El Salvador, Amazonas, and Cumbayá. 20,000 m² of usable area is expected to be added in 2008 and 2009, most in the Avenida 12 de Octubre area.
