Mexico is seen as a regional leader of Latin American, boasting the largest economy amongst that region. Mexico is poised to break into the world’s top ten economies, although it has not yet established itself as an upper middle income country. Despite this recent economic development Mexico still has sharp contrast in its income and infrastructural distribution from state to state, especially when comparing rural vs. urbanized areas.

The recent economic situation has caused a decrease in absorption in Mexico. Companies looking to sub-let or dispose of unnecessary space are quite frequent and owners of property are under increasing pressure to offer lower rental rates in the first half of 2009. Pre-leasing of new supply has fallen dramatically and most plans for investment or expansion into Mexico's markets has been put on hold until the financial crisis clears up.
